And the Office of a Magistrate, may be accepted of, and executed by Christians, when lawfully called thereunto; and God hath given the power of the Sword into the hands of all lawful Magistrates, for the defence and incouragement of them that do well, and for the Punishment of evil doers, and for the maintenance of Justice, and Peace, according to the wholesome Laws of each Kingdom, and Commonwealth. And they may wage War upon just and necessary Occasions.
