For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever, Amen.

Whence are we to take our encouragement in Prayer?

From God only.

May we take it from any worthiness in our selves, or in any other creature?

Where are we taught to take our encouragement in Prayer from God only?

In the conclusion of the Lords Prayer.

Is this an encouragement to us in prayer, that the Kingdom, and Rule, and Soveraignty is Gods, and therefore he may give us what he pleaseth?

Yes.

And that the power is Gods, and therefore he can do according to, and above all our necessities, let our Case be what it will?

Yes,

And that the glory belongs to God, and therefore we are encouraged from the glorious excellencies of his nature to expect, and for the furtherance of his own honour to desire the fulfilling of our requests?

Yes.

And doth the conclusion also teach us to join Praises to our Prayers?

Yes.

Is Gods kingdom, power, and glory then, the matter both of our encouragement, and of his praise?

Yes.

Is God praised by us in our ascribing all glory, power, and dominion to him, and in commending his excellencies and Prerogatives?

Yes.

And why do we say [Amen]?

In testimony of our desire, and assurance to be heard.

Doth it imply both earnestness in desiring, and confidence of speeding?

Yes.

What is the meaning of Amen?
