1. This office to which Christ is called, is threefold, as a Prophet,a Priest, andb King: this number and order of offices is necessary; for in respect of ourc ignorance, we stand in need of his Propheticall office. And in respect of our greatd alienation from God, wee need his Priestly office to reconcile us: and in respect of our aversnesse and utter inability to return to God, wee need his Kingly office, toe convince,f subdue,g draw,h uphold andi preserve us to his heavenly Kingdome.j
